It would have been interesting to note whether those claiming American needs to import this type talent also intend to pay the imported workers the same wage scale as native-born employees.

I once was part of a town hall call, sponsored by then Congresswoman Thelma Drake, during which a caller claimed America has plenty of technology talent, but that employers would rather import talent and pay a lower wage. I realize this is but one example and that I no longer have the figures this person provided Mrs. Drake, but it is something that should be investigated before signing on to the plan presented by Mr. Allen. It has its merits, only if the claims of the technology sector are valid. Otherwise, we should not be willing to sell out the next generation of Americans so that a company can squeeze out an extra buck or two.

The powers that be have tried to convince Americans for years that immigrants take those jobs Americans are unwilling to do. In reality, Americans don't want "those jobs" because employers aren't willing to pay a fair wage. Let us not allow this to happen as well within the technology sector until we've done our homework.

Great article, until you pointed to racism. The energy companies are not creating fees to hold a class of people back, they create them based on profiteering. It is this insatiable need to line pockets that is destroying this country. Bottom line for a business to give back good faith to their consumer for their continued consumption(which they understand to well we have only one choice) a percentage of that profit must be sacrificed to continued development and future innovation. Instead we have become greedy and any one who provides a service expects the consumer to foot the entire bill to update and keep the companies moving forward.
Now comes the politics on green energy; remove all city, state and federal ordnance against what a person can do on their property for green energy and see how quickly the green energy industry takes off. There are many areas in the U.S. that with out ordinances preventing them windmills would pop-up and provide most homes with a third of their electrical consumption for a one time investment, that would be theirs to maintain. That initial investment is not inexpensive but would become far more reasonable with higher demand (currently about 8-12 thousand dollars).

Great article. While I support the well-thought-out development of alternative energy, green energy mandates amount to little more than political windfalls to the well-connected. Corruption in this country at all levels of government is rampant, as I suppose it has always been.
The greenies, who are usually liberal democrats, don't seem to want to hear about such details resulting from their pet, feel-good projects.
